Is it true that college admissions are now looking at homeschooling with favor?

In an excellent (and comprehensive) article about homeschooling in the Stanford alumni magazine, some of the criteria that Stanford looks for are outlined. The article summarizes that its admissions officers are most interested in intellectual vitality, and flag homeschool applicants files with a special code to ensure they are reviewed. Stanford Magazine – Article

Bottom Line

Lots and lots of colleges accept homeschool applicants, and many seem to actually solicit and favor them. However, just like most things in the real world – there’s no such thing as a free lunch. Homeschoolers still have to demonstrate that they have prepared themselves to participate in, and succeed at college or university.

So, enjoy your learning … but document it well.
